Mr. Wattie joined Polaris in 2019 as a portfolio manager and wealth adviser with over 12 years investment management and financial experience. After receiving his baccalaureate, he joined Mellon Bank (BNY Mellon) in Boston as an Institutional Trust Specialist working directly with its major custodial clients, as well as liaising with clients’ investment advisers. In 1998, he accepted a position with the advisory subsidiary of Nixon Peabody LLP
where he later became a Senior Portfolio Manager and Analyst. In 2005, Mr. Wattie founded his own investment advisory firm in New Hampshire — Newland Capital Management LLC— later moving to the Charleston, SC area. Newland Capital focused on individual accounts employing a bottom-up, quantitative investment style. During this tenure, he also provided publicly-traded micro-cap company analysis and trading on a consulting basis to a media firm.
Mr. Wattie graduated from Lafayette College in 1993 with a BA in Economics and Sociology, and in 1998 he achieved a Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. He is also a past grader of the exam. In 2004, he became a Chartered Market Technician®, and in 2011 he earned a Certified Hedge Fund Professional designation with emphasis on portfolio analytics.
